The EPA is happy to announce that this year's research call under the 3 pillars of Climate, Water and Sustainability is now open with a budget of approximately €7,000,000 for new projects. Additional funding is available under the 'Green Enterprise' call.

EPA Research Strategy 2014-2020
This marks the first call under the new EPA Research Strategy 2014-2020 Using knowledge to protect and improve our natural environment and human health. [pdf,2.79MB]
Note: Proposal 1.3 in the Climate Technical Description was changed on 03/07/2014.

Application process
Applications for the calls must be made via the EPA’s on-line application system.

Please note there are 2 separate deadlines for submission of applications.
A: Climate, Sustainability and Water calls
B: Green Enterprise call

Online applications for the above calls should be submitted as part of a two-step process: submission by applicants, and then approval by management. Failure to meet either the submission or authorisation deadline means your proposal will not be considered for funding.

Climate, Water, Sustainability proposals
A1: Submission of Climate, Sustainability and Water proposals by 5pm, 5th August 2014;
A2: Authorisation of Climate, Sustainability and Water proposals by 5pm, 15th August 2014.

Submission of Green Enterprise proposals
B1: Submission of Green Enterprise proposals by 5pm, 1st August 2014;
B2: Authorisation of Green Enterprise proposals by 5pm, 12th August 2014.

Researcher Travel Support Grants
Funding is available to support researchers who are presenting EPA - funded research at international conferences or participating as a national expert at international meetings on key environmental issues. Funding is provided subject to an upper limit of €1,000 per applicant, to cover travel, registration and other associated costs.

Event Support (including Workshops & Conferences)
Funding is available to support workshops, seminars and other events - subject to an upper limit of €3,000 per event. The event should showcase current national research by the organisers and EPA funded-groups, and could also include an international keynote speaker.

Making an Application
All funding applications must be made through the EPA Grant Management System.
