Climate change is one of the most important global environmental challenges facing humanity today. In order to assist industry meet the requirements specified in the National Climate Change Strategy (NCCS) for the enterprise sector, Enterprise Ireland is participating in a range of committees that have been assigned responsibility for implementing this strategy. We believe that the proposed policy mix to achieve the specified targets for greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions in the enterprise sector is undertaken without impacting on the competitiveness of the sector. Also, it is important that the measures will allow impacted companies sufficient lead-time to plan actions to meet the targets and to provide for transparency during implementation, monitoring and verification.

The Competitiveness Department can provide guidance on the requirements specified in the NCCS for the industrial sector, as well as up to date developments on climate change issues such as emissions trading, negotiated agreements and international investment.
