Helping You Prepare for nZEB
Source: nZEBRA
The nearly Zero Energy Building standard, or nZEB for short, will be mandatory in Ireland from the end of 2018 for public-owned non-domestic and 2020 for private buildings. nZEBRA is a specialist education and consulting firm established to help the Irish construction sector prepare for this next phase in sustainable construction in Ireland.

Nationwide nZEB Training Programme
nZEBRA is holding a series of nationwide one-day courses on nZEB commencing 22nd May. The courses will be held at nine locations right across the country and costs just €175 including light lunch and 7 CPD points.

Have Your Say on nZEB!
We strongly encourage you to participate in the Department of Housing public consultation on nZEB - Public Consultation on the Review of Part L (Conservation of Fuel and Energy for Buildings other than Dwellings) 2017 -

This consultation pertains specifically to Part L which deals mostly with energy efficiency standards.
Stuck for ideas? Examples of issues which you might consider commenting on include the following:

  • Comfort requirements (indoor air temperature, humidity and CO2 levels)
  • Envelope performance (insulation, air-sealing, thermal bridging and glazing);
  • Mechanical systems (heating, cooling, hot water, ventilation)
  • Renewable energy contribution (solar PV, solar thermal, heat-pumps, waste to energy)
  • Training and education (knowledge transfer to design teams and contractors)
  • Performance monitoring (post-occupancy measurement of building performance)
